Provisions For a Trip

What a joy to experience the Lord's provision when we prepare for a trip.

His provision in encouragement and direction from His Word. We have been doing daily devotions in Bible books that were determined in a way that the world would say is a random manner. Yet every day, the chapters that we study are exactly related to what is going on in our preparations mentally and/or logistically.

His provision in funds and supplies. The team gathered on Saturday, January 12 (the 3rd anniversary of the quake by the way) and on Wednesday January 16 to pack the bags with the supplies that we are taking. With 14 travelers, we can take 28 bags at 50 lbs each. We ended up with 28 bags being available and all of them being filled to 45-50 lbs. The supplies range from cold medicine obtained at a very special price at Giving Children Hope's missionary store to 3 lap tops for the orphanage and school (being put into separate carry on bags of course).

His provision in supporters. The latest and most dramatic of these supporters ended up being the french class students at MVCC's sister schools Mission Viejo Christian School. The teacher Blythe Rovsek encouraged her students to organize a supply drive. They also wrote letters to the CHI children in french to allow both sets of students an opportunity to correspond and practice their French.

By the way, The school sent approximately 500 lbs of books to start a library at CHI/MdL on the MVCC first trip in 2007. Another coincidence in this picture is that the dad of one of the girls shown went on  a trip in November 2010.

His provision in opportunities to support the primary activities of the trip. The dental team coordinator Chandra again received a huge outpouring of supplies from dental companies. She will write later about this in detail. The team  also raised several thousand dollars to go toward the needs of the muTch program and CHI in general.

His provision in stateside support. We are blessed to have Annette Sabatasso acting as the stateside organizer for this trip. She has been a gentle bulldog in keeping us on task and providing amazing organization skills. We also were incredibly encouraged by dozens of people who signed up to pray for the team and the trip daily at a certain time each day so that the team is covered in prayer 24 hours a day since January 1 through the  end of the trip.

His provision in a great, united team full of the various gifts that He plans to use in ways that we think we see but that we cannot even imagine yet.

In addition to all of this, today, January 17 represents the day that the January 2010 MVCC Haiti Team left Port au Prince airport after the earthquake and January 18 was the day that we arrived back in California. How fitting that He provides that we are able to start our overnight journey back to Port au Prince airport on the same date January 18,  three years later.

Our Lord is an amazing provider.

May you be blessed for providing muTch through the LORD who provides it all.
