The scriptures above are just a taste of what the Lord has been ministering to this team… We have been ABUNDANTLY blessed! We had a beautiful send off party for our Haiti team at our sister in Christ Erin’s home. There was fellowship that was full of love, laughter and tears of joy… The team linked arms with 50 others and the presence of God fell upon us, and we left full of WORDS from God, JOY, and CONFIDENCE that we were in the WILL OF GOD, and that He was with us! We left 7 minutes earlier than our planned departure time J and headed to LAX. Not even 4pm LA traffic could stop our God. It took us one hour to get to LAX, another hour to check 31 bags full of dental equipment, and again the favor of God was with His people, because what should have cost us 900 dollars in fees was waved by 3 women at American Airlines to only 480 dollars, Praise the Lord! The team made its way through security smoothly and immediately stopped to pray and praise God for getting them all there so smoothly… The team even had enough time to sit down and eat at a restaurant.  The Lord scattered the team throughout the same area of the restaurant, but purposely placed us far enough apart to use us to His Glory. One table had a divine appointment with a man who over heard them talking about their excitement of going to Haiti, which lead him to inquire why? Which in turn lead to our sharing about Jesus and all He had done previously in Haiti… Another table was placed by a woman whose name is Cindy, and is a missionary who would soon be traveling to seek a school for an orphanage, and the team surrounding her and prayed for her… Another table locked arms to pray before their meal, and those watching listened in on the prayer… The team left, and they soon boarded the plane and had a smooth flight to Miami. 

Once the team arrived in Miami at 5am, we again were placed by God in the middle of a restaurant with all of us surrounding our huge square table. Though we were tired, we felt called to pray and to do our devotion together as a team this morning.  As we opened the Word, and shared it was clear by reading Mark ch5 that we were to be a team of FAITH and a team that knew we have “POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS”. We had a 5 hour layover in Miami (that we thought would feel like forever) end up giving us hours as a team to read though God’s Word, chew upon it, and pray while surrounding ears were ministered to for hours, and were prayed over whether they wanted prayer or not J. At the close of prayer we realized we had just enough time to run to the bath room, grab a last minute treat and get to our gate. While waiting to board our last plan a team member started to converse with another missions team, that was also on its way to serve God in Haiti. We quickly realized that we needed to link arms with this team and pray for protection, power, and the fact that none of us were going to Haiti to serve God in the way we thought this trip… A team member who had gone to the restroom said as he walked up and saw the 2 teams linked in prayer, he saw people stopping to watch and see, and listening to the teams pray, and it was a beautiful sight he said. All Glory to Jesus!  All teams blessed each other and made their way to the plane and our final destination.  After another smooth flight (except our descent) J we exited the plane, and before proceeding  on,  the team stopped and prayed, asking God to let every bag be there, for His favor to be upon us, to get through customs without being stopped, and for His protection.. God is faithful to his people. Every bag was accounted for;  we walked right past customs with 30 plus bags, and were greeted by our sister Cindy, one of the staff members.  We loaded up the top of the caged truck with luggage, and the team was on its way! After  25 minutes of bouncing up and down in the truck, interesting smells… and some of the most beautiful people and children you have ever seen,  we arrived at the guest house.  We were greeted with hugs and a beautiful lunch that had been prepared for us. After prayer, fellowship, and sorting out all the bags, we had our orientation,  then immediately started to work.  The Lord worked quickly through His team, unpacking all 30 plus bags.  We organized the donated items, sorted the equipment and medical supplies, and put away our own belongings. Then, we worked on the list of projects for the orphanage, and for organizing the NEW dental clinic. The team finished 10 minutes before dinner and headed back to the guest house to pray and eat.  We rushed through our meal so that we could get to the Boys Home for worship. As we walked up the rocks of Haiti towards the Boys Home we could hear the worship  flowing over the walls.  As we walked in we immediately felt the presence of God and joined in worshiping with the kids. There truly is no way to describe the way these kids worship… It is something we all hope you can one day experience,  if you have not already experienced it… At the close of worship we were able to share with the kids one by one how much God and we love them. When we returned home, we gathered for prayer and devotions. We praised God for every answered prayer and all that He had accomplished in our very first day! Our devotion time ended that evening with the end of Mark 5:39 “He went in and said to them, “why all the commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep,” But they laughed at Him. And He put them all out, He took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with Him, and went in where the child was. He took her by the hand and said to her “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” Immediately the little girl stood up and walked around. At this they were completely astonished…”

Day 2 in Haiti,

The women were blessed this morning by the men on the team who made pancakes for the team.  We prayed, ate every pancake made, and were taken to church in the white caged truck. As we clung to one another and bounced merrily along, we drove by streets full of people in their Sunday best,  headed to church. When we arrived , we walked into a small church that was full of Haitians and visiting missionaries. We felt  the powerful presence of the Lord in that place. The pastor opened in prayer, and we worshiped with both hands lifted up and tears streaming down our faces. Of course, there was a missionary there who was sharing about her missions work. The message from the Pastor was the EXACT same scriptures we had done for devotion the night before! We were all in awe of our God who confirms Himself through His Word.

After church we went to Bill and Susette’s home (they run the orphanage) we prayed, and had the most amazing Haitian food. We fellowshipped with the staff and children, and then came back to the guest house to have time to reflect on the morning. Then the team was off, back to the boys home where we played, laughed, danced, and played volleyball with the kids till dark… none wanted to leave..

When we arrived back at the guest house,  2 of the girls from the orphanage had made us dinner, and we all gathered around the girls as a team to pray for them. We ate, cleaned and gathered again for devotions (this night with another missionary who is also staying  at the guest house). We opened in worship, and read through all of chapter 6 of Mark, and each team member one by one shared how a verse in the chapter ministered to them and what had blessed them that day.  The Lord had spoken different things through each team member though this chapter of Mark… Like the loaves of bread to one meant “we have what we need, but don’t see it”… another compared the limited view we have to things, but that God has the ALL angle view… Another said that being in Haiti there “eyes had been opened” another said that “unfamiliarity is uncomfortable, but God was stretching us”… Another said they were amazed that a year later these kids remember us like it was yesterday…  Another said last year’s theme was obedience and this year’s theme is Faith! … Another said “Jesus told them to feed the 5,000 and they started debating Him, we all have doubt but need to respond in Faith”…  Another said “don’t doubt God or you will sink..” … Another said “God has given me confirmation”… Another said “we are here for more than feeding, we are here for MINISTRY”… Another said “we are to teach the kids the Bread of life first , then feed them with the bread”… Another said “we are to be RIGHTEOUS verses SELF RIGHTEOUS”…  We each said our time playing with the kids today blessed us, and we closed in a song we sang at church today that says “THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS! THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS! THERE IS POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS! TO BREAK EVERY CHAIN, TO BREAK EVERY CHAIN, TO BREAK EVERY CHAIN!!!!
